Video Capabilities and Improved Sound

The 30GB iPod video is Apple's new iPod with video capabilities. The focus for the 30 GB iPod video is still on its audio, but the video quality on this model's 2.5-inch screen is excellent.

And the audio capabilities for the 30 GB iPod video has also improved from the previous model.

This latest model offers high-quality stereo recording.

A Sleeker Look

Although the height and the weight have remained the same, the new 30 GB iPod video is a slimmed down model that is 30% thinner than Apple's previous model.

And the backlit LCD, which is 2.5-inches with 320 by 240 pixels, is markedly bigger than the previous model's screen.

Audio and Video Menus

The interface for the 30 GB iPod video has basically remained the same, with the exception of having Audio Books and Podcasts placed in the Music Menu.

It offers a video menu that provides access to music videos, movies, video playslists and video podcasts.

Within the 30GB iPod video system's video settings menu you can enable or disable TV output. You can also adjust the widescreen and toggle between PAL format and NTSC format.

There is screen lock capability as well as a stopwatch present in the 30GB iPod video. And the system's battery will allow for 16.5 hours of continuous audio and just over two hours of video play.

The Video Experience

The viewing experience with the 30 GB iPod video is remarkably comfortable. The images that appear on the screen are crisp and clear and the picture in general is sharp and smooth.

And if you don't have time to finish your video podcast or movie you can just stop it, and it will save your place. When you return to your show, you can resume at the spot you you left off at.

It also allows you to scroll through a program's progress bar, and it will begin playing at the point where you stop scrolling.

Storing Your Own Videos

With the 30 GB iPod video you can store your own collection of videos as well as existing content.

With a simple file conversion, any of your movies will download onto your 30 GB iPod video. Movies downloaded from iMovie require no conversion. And you don't have to stop at movies. iTV programs can also be added to the 30 GB iPod Video system.

And you have access to content from Apple's iTunes Music Store, like TV shows, animated shorts, free video postcasts and up to 2, 000 music videos.

Taking Pictures

The 30 GB iPod video's larger screen gives you a better view of your photos, and there is a new feature that allows for slide shows with 3D translations.
