The second generation blue iPod mini is Apple's latest in its popular line of mid- sized music machines.

The blue iPod mini comes in various capacities, from 4GB at a price of $199 to 6GB for $249.

The price of these new iPods is considered a bargain by many, when the features of the iPod are examined.

The iPod mini has a larger storage capacity even though it is the same price as the older iPod mini. Another attractive bonus to the new iPod mini is the color; the models come in new more vivid shades of blue, pink and green. The brightness of the iPod mini blue is from a metal-flake coating that is on its case.

But the most impressive new feature on the iPod mini blue is the playtime it offers. The new minis play hours longer than the original minis. You have hours and hours to play music, switch backlighting, search through your calendar and your contacts, adjust the volume, and jump from songs, albums and play lists.

And Apple is able to keep the price down on the iPod mini blue by omitting some of the cables that have come with the mini in the past. There is a cable offered with the iPod mini blue that allows you to transfer music; which is the USB 2.0, but the Fire Wire Cable is now an optional accessory that costs an additional $19.

You can also get a power adapter for your iPod mini blue but you need to buy it separately at a cost of $29.

But the good news is that, if you do choose to purchase these extra accessories, Apple has made improvements to them. The dual-processor works faster, as does the Fire Wire connector.

But if you don't need the additional cords, because you choose to merely plug your iPod into your computer to charge it up, then you can save the cash by purchasing the iPod mini blue without the accessories or the higher price tag.

But all in all, the new iPod mini blue is a winner with its impressively vibrant sheen that definitely draws attention to itself. And because the playtime for the blue iPod mini has been increased so much, it is definitely attractive if you want lots of playtime out of it before it needs charging.

So considering the quality received from the blue iPod mini, the price can't be beat; even if there are a few accessories that must now be purchased separately.
