Grado Prestige Series SR60 Headphones

Grado Prestige Series SR60 Headphones By Daniel Dwase

Retailing between $69-$79, the Grado Prestige SR60 is Grado's entry-level offering in its Prestige series of headphones.

It is also one of the most praised models in the Grado's lineup. With the SR60, Grado specifically targeted the Walkman type headphones that usually come with the portable CD player.

These headphones deliver sparkling highs, good mids, and solid bass depending on the power supply.

They are reliable and well-made and have comfortable earpads.

The SR60's driver voice-coil and headphone cable are made from "standard" copper wire, as opposed to the "Ultra High Purity Long Crystal" copper used in the more expensive Grado models.

They feature a vented diaphragm design with a non-resonant air chamber resulting in a deeper and cleaner bass than most other headphones.

The Grado Prestige series SR60 headphones whole spectrum sounds good, but the real strength lies in its high end.

The highs are incredibly clear, without any harshness or sizzle. They are also very well balanced, with no one section dominating the upper frequencies. This is one of the characteristics that makes the SR60s so listenable.

The high-end clarity and smoothness practically eliminate ear fatigue. The midrange is equally impressive. The best thing about the mids is the coherency, with no peaks or valleys and everything simply staying together.

One huge advantage of the Grado Prestige series SR60 headphones is that they handle nearly all musical genres with a plomb, making it the headphones of choice for an equally wide range of audiophiles.

It is better suited for the listening in a quieter environment because of its open backed design with a large air chamber.

This type of design allows a fair amount of exchange between what you are listening to and the outside world.

This means that you will be able to hear everything around you and those around you will be able to listen to your music.

The Grado SR60 headphones are all black. Their cups have large, circular foam pads covering them, and open backs. The cups rest in a plastic C-shaped housing, allowing the cups to tilt back and forth.

This part is attached to the band by a metal rod. These metal rods both allow the cups to rotate in a full circle and to stretch away from the band, in order to accommodate larger heads and provide a comfortable fit. The band itself is metal, and covered with leather.

By default, the Grado Prestige series SR60 headphones come fitted with a 3.5mm stereo jack.

An adaptor is supplied for use with standard 1/4" sockets for listeners who want to plug their headphones into the larger sockets found on receivers, integrated amplifiers and dedicated headphone amplifiers.

With both sound reproduction and carrying comfort in a class of their own, the SR60 headphones seem to be the perfect match for a decent MP3 player.

The Grado Prestige SR60 has to be considered a bargain, and a product to which everyone should give a listen before they decide which headphones to buy.

Testimonials...
OMG!!!!!! This website helped me so much! I just got my first iPod yesterday and this helped alot.
SallyAnne, USA

You are a genius, I thought I had downloaded iTunes 7... I didn't have to reset, everything came up as was on it when it crashed. I cannot thank you enough for not giving up, this one had sentimental value that you cannot believe and they do not make the black nanos anymore. I tried everything on the internet, and you are the only one that replied and kept at it until you solved the problem.
Thank you.

Wow Daniel! What a fantastic service. I really didn't expect such a prompt response, if at all. And thanks for your advice. I certainly will be downloading from the sites you have listed. We are bathing in summer heat here, whilst I guess you are sheltering from the approaching winter. As a student it is not unusual to work through the night and I must say, how fantastic it is to have music all night. And such excellent quality sound too. So thrilled to have iPod up and running!
Thanks again.
Ciao
