Importing CDs into your iTunes Music Library is a straight forward thing but not so with importing audiobook CDs.
To begin adding audiobook CDs to your iTunes music library you need to ensure that your import settings are optimal for audiobook and spoken word.
Below are the step-by-step guide of importing audiobooks into your iTunes library.
1. Configure iTunes With Optimal Import Settings For Audiobooks
- Open iTunes
- Click on the Edit > Preferences tab... click on Advanced tab and then the Importing tab
- On CD Insert choose Show CD from the drop down menu
1. Choose AAC Encoder in the Import Using...
2. Choose Custom in the Setting menu.
|
An AAC Encoder dialog box will pop-up and from there you need to do a few more settings...
- Choose 64 kbps in the Stereo Bit Rate
- Set Sample Rate and Channels to Auto
- Check the Optimize for voice checkbox.
- Click OK
- From your iTunes Preferences dialog box uncheck the following...
- Check Create file names with track number and Automatically retrieve CD track names from Internet.

|
2. Create A New Playlist To Add Your Audiobook CDs

This will give you a blank playlist under the Devices menu on the left-hand side of your iTunes interface.
Type in the name of the new playlist and press enter. This will give an empty playlist where you will add your audiobook CDs.
|
3. Drag And Drop Audiobook Files
Insert your audiobook CD into your computer. Click the 'Start' and select my Computer, clicking to open it.
|
Double-click the audiobook CD to open it from within your My Computer where you'll see your audiobooks as MP3 files...
|
Next...
...Drag and drop the files into your newly created playlist in iTunes.
Do not select all the files and drop them into iTunes because it will not be arranged in order... instead drag and drop files one at a time.

You are a genius, I thought I had downloaded iTunes 7... I didn't have to reset, everything came up as was
on it when it crashed.
I cannot thank you enough for not giving up, this one had sentimental value that you cannot believe and they
do not make the black nanos anymore.
I tried everything on the internet, and you are the only one that replied and kept at it until you solved the
problem.
Thank you.

Wow Daniel! What a fantastic service. I really didn't expect such a prompt response, if at all. And
thanks for your advice. I certainly will be downloading from the sites you have listed. We are bathing in
summer heat here, whilst I guess you are sheltering from the approaching winter. As a student it is not
unusual to work through the night and I must say, how fantastic it is to have music all night. And such excellent
quality sound too. So thrilled to have iPod up and running!
Thanks again.
Ciao
