Volume issue
by: Anonymous

The same problem for ipod touch, 4th generation it seems. I've been happy with it for the past 3 months since I bought it but suddenly the volume is set at a fixed position when the airphones are plugged in. I previously thought I did something wrong while unplugging the phones but it seems its a general problem. Any ideas apart from returning it?

volume control unresponsive
by: Steve

Please help.
The volume control ( click wheel) is unresponsive. This means that the volume level will not change. It is not a volume limit issue, although the volume is stuck a little loud. I can't find any resolution by browsing the discussion boards.
This just happened after updating the itunes software. I have no idea if that is the problem. the nano worked perfectly for 3 months.

Any suggestions?

Hi Steve,

Normally debris get stuck under the click wheel. The only way is to use a thin material to clean under it.

Same Volume Control Problem
by: Anonymous

This is my first Ipod, and I was extremely excited to finally get to use it, but I'm having the same problem mentioned above.

It's the newest Nano and the volume wheel only adjusts the external sound and has no effect on the earpiece. I can't find anywhere on the Ipod where the volume can be adjusted either.

volume control mystery
by: Anonymous

Same problem. Volume control only affects external speaker but has no effect on ear buds. Cannot find solution on line. Friends with older nano clueless. Nothing is mentioned about this problem in latest on line manual. We plan to return to the store and if the sales rep can't solve the problem we're going to get a refund.

Volume Control Ipod Nano 5th gen
by: Anonymous

Hi,
I have the same problems. If I play a song, with the hearbuds in, if I turn the wheel to control the volume, only the external speakers get loud (which I don't want) and nothing happens in the earbuds. I already had an ipod replaced cuz the store thought it was deffective. Got a brand new one tonite and same deal, so it has to be me :(

It's not only you who are facing this kind of problem. Most iPod owners including myself can't get the volume control to stay where I want it. In my opinion this is a major flaw from Apple.

OMG!!!!!! This website helped me so much! I just got my first iPod yesterday and this helped alot.
SallyAnne, USA

You are a genius, I thought I had downloaded iTunes 7... I didn't have to reset, everything came up as was on it when it crashed. I cannot thank you enough for not giving up, this one had sentimental value that you cannot believe and they do not make the black nanos anymore. I tried everything on the internet, and you are the only one that replied and kept at it until you solved the problem.
Thank you.

Wow Daniel! What a fantastic service. I really didn't expect such a prompt response, if at all. And thanks for your advice. I certainly will be downloading from the sites you have listed. We are bathing in summer heat here, whilst I guess you are sheltering from the approaching winter. As a student it is not unusual to work through the night and I must say, how fantastic it is to have music all night. And such excellent quality sound too. So thrilled to have iPod up and running!
Thanks again.
