iPod Touch Essentials
So, you've gone out and bought your brand new iPod touch, taken it out of the box and loaded your
favourite music onto it. At this point, you're doubtless considering buying accessories and addons for
it, but with the sheer amount of peripherals available, what do you actually need?
Hopefully this iPod touch essentials article will go some way to helping you to make a decision.
Headphones
The headphones that come with the iPod touch as standard are of a very high quality, although you may
want to consider an alternative pair depending on the situations you will be using your iPod touch in.
If you are likely to be using it in an area where it is important that you do not disturb those
around you with leaked noise, it may be wise in investing in a pair of sealed, or noise cancelling
headphones. These block sound from escaping, giving you a better listening experience and also not
distracting others.
Screen Protector
It goes without saying that the screen of your iPod touch will be getting a lot of use - after all,
the touchscreen is one of its main selling points.
With this in mind, it is a good idea to protect
your screen - you can pick up screen protectors for very little money that will prevent any nasty
scuffs, scratches or scrapes.
They are easy to apply and leave no adhesive residue when removed,
meaning you will be able to keep your screen clean and safe for the life of the unit.
Protective Case
Although your screen is now protected, you may well want to protect the rest of the unit - after
all, it could still be dropped or banged resulting in superficial or - even worse - internal damage.
There are a large number of cases on the market, depending on the look you require.
There are leather
foldout cases that resemble wallets, or rubber/plastic 'skins' that keep the shape of the unit while
making it just a few millimetres thicker - It'll still fit in your pocket with no problems.
Dock
Having all your tunes in your pocket is great while you're out, but what if you want to listen to
your favourite playlist while you're at home, or going on holiday and don't want to take hundreds
of CDs?
A dock is the perfect answer to this, and in many cases they will charge your iPod touch as well.
Keep an eye out for battery-powered ones as well - perfect for those outdoor events that need a good soundtrack!
Emergency Charger
Speaking from experience, there's nothing worse than running out the house in the morning, only to
find that your iPod touch is low on battery, or even completely flat.
With one of these gizmos you won't
have to worry about that any longer - These clever little things will connect to your iPod touch, mobile,
camera, or any other portable bit of kit you might have and give it some extra juice until you can
get to a socket to charge it fully - consider it a spare tyre for your iPod touch!
As mentioned previously, there are a great deal of other accessories you could purchase for your
iPod touch, but many of them are rendered reasonably obsolete by the others - for example why buy a
wallcharger when your dock will charge your player as well?
Make sure you do your research when
buying accessories as well, there are a multitude out there at a variety of different prices and
levels of quality.
Shop around, and make sure you get the best
ipod accessories at the best prices!
