Most times my iPod touch freezes or it just doesn't respond. Here I will share with you what has worked for me when my iPod touch freezes or not operating as expected.
These iPod touch troubleshooting tips will surely help you resolve most common issues with your iPod touch.
1. Recharge iPod touch with Low Battery
|
A low battery means that your iPod touch is unable to function as normal.
Recharge it for up to 10-15 minutes before you use it. When recharging your iPod touch...
a) Use the included high-powered USB cable and dock connector with your computer or iPod touch AC adapter.
b) Do not connect your iPod touch to a computer that's turned off or in a sleep mode.
c) If your iPod touch battery is low on power, the display may be blank for up to two minutes before one of the low-battery images appears.
d) Do not use the USB port on your keyboard because it is a low-power port and iPod touch will not charge, instead use the main USB port on your computer.
e) If you see the red part of the battery image flash three times and then the screen goes black, it means that your iPod touch is not receiving power to charge.
2. Restart iPod touch
Sometimes recharging my iPod touch doesn't work so I restart it. To restart your iPod touch, turn it off first by pressing and holding the 'Sleep/Wake' button until you see the red slider as in the image below.Slide your finger across the slider to turn off your iPod touch. To turn your iPod touch on, press and hold the 'Sleep/Wake' button until the Apple logo appears.
3. Reset iPod touch
Reset your iPod touch if it appears to be frozen for example it doesn't respond to any touch. To reset your iPod touch, press and hold the 'Sleep/Wake' button and the 'Home' button at the same time for about 10 seconds.Whilst you're holding both buttons, a red 'Power Off' slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release 'Sleep/Wake' and 'Home' buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
4. Remove Content from iPod touch
Sometimes removing content from your iPod touch may help troubleshoot it because some content on it may cause it not to work as you expect.Try removing certain content that may be causing unexpected behavior such as contacts, calendars, songs, photos, videos, or podcasts.
To remove content, connect your iPod touch via USB 2.0 cable and use iTunes to sync content you only need on your iPod touch. Click on your iPod touch in the 'Source' list under 'Devices', and select each tab to change what content is synced then click 'Apply'.
For example if you want to remove songs from your iPod touch, uncheck them from your 'Playlist' and click 'Apply' at the bottom-right of iTunes...
5. Reset iPod touch Settings
![]() |
Note: This will reset all your settings. No data or media will be deleted from your iPod touch.
If that does not resolve your issue, try erasing all settings. Tap 'Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings'.
Note: This will delete all your media and data from your iPod touch. All settings will be reset as well.
6. Restore iPod touch
Try restoring your iPod touch using the latest version of iTunes.Connect your iPod touch to your computer and when it appears in the 'Source' list under 'Devices', click on the 'Summary' tab. Under 'Version' click the 'Restore' button.
Note: This will delete all media and data from your iPod touch. All settings will be reset as well.
By following the above iPod touch troubleshooting tips, you will get your iPod touch up and running again in no time.

You are a genius, I thought I had downloaded iTunes 7... I didn't have to reset, everything came up as was
on it when it crashed.
I cannot thank you enough for not giving up, this one had sentimental value that you cannot believe and they
do not make the black nanos anymore.
I tried everything on the internet, and you are the only one that replied and kept at it until you solved the
problem.
Thank you.

Wow Daniel! What a fantastic service. I really didn't expect such a prompt response, if at all. And
thanks for your advice. I certainly will be downloading from the sites you have listed. We are bathing in
summer heat here, whilst I guess you are sheltering from the approaching winter. As a student it is not
unusual to work through the night and I must say, how fantastic it is to have music all night. And such excellent
quality sound too. So thrilled to have iPod up and running!
Thanks again.
Ciao
