I think you can go for a formating the hard drive and reinstall it to ensure the fresh hard drive. Its similar to hard disk of a CPU only, i think!

Great article! I've noticed in many instances, the problem actually derives from a faulty HDD cable. People wrongfully suspect that it's a bad ipod hard drive and this simply isn't always the case. Thanks for posting this.
