Songs on my iPod skip... Why?
Whenever songs on your iPod skip, it is normally due to one of the following reasons...
Large Song File
Large songs files don’t play particularly well on your iPod. This leads to skipping. If possible, reduce file sizes by employing greater compression, or cutting really long files …such as audiobooks…into short files.
A Damaged Song File
If you find that the same song skips every time you play it…and others seem to play without a problem…go back to the source of the song for e.g. an audio CD…rip the song again…and replace the copy on the iPod with the newly ripped version.

iPod That Needs To Be Reset
Reset your iPod by holding down the 'Select' and 'Menu' buttons for 6-10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. if a 'Reset' won’t do the trick, make sure that all the data on your iPod is backed up, and restore your iPod with the latest version of the iPod Updater Software http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ -- opens in new window.
