How To Transfer iPod Songs Into iTunes Music Library Using iPod Access By Daniel Dwase
To transfer your music between your iPod and your PC/Mac you must set your iPod to update manually.
This allows you to add or delete songs from iTunes or from your iPod. This tutorial... How to update your iPod manually using iTunes will show you how to do it.
I used iPod Access to transfer songs from my iPod into my iTunes music library because I wanted to backup my songs and this page shows you how to do it as well.
iPod Access works on both PC/Mac platforms and supports Mac OS X 10.1 or later and Windows XP or 2000.
Pros -- Free Trial Version:
- You can copy songs from your iPod to PC/Mac
- Create a full-backup for all your songs
- Add selected songs to your iTunes Music Library
- Can recover songs from your damaged iPod.
Cons -- Free Trial Version:
- Only 5 songs can be added at a time… not for you if you are looking to backup all your music files in case your iPod crashes.
Remember... you are limited to adding 5 songs at a time with the FREE Version but the FULL Version offers much more.
To transfer iPod songs into iTunes music library ...
1. Download and install iPod Access (update iPod access has been removed from its location by its publisher). Try searching Google for "iPod Access" -- you'll need this software to transfer iPod songs into iTunes.
2. Launch iPod Access and make sure iTunes is closed on your PC/Mac.
3. From the 'File' menu select 'Find All iPods'. This will locate your iPod folder and retrieve all info... including songs and podcasts found on it.
|
4. Select your first 5 songs by holding down the 'Ctrl' button on your keyboard and left-clicking on each song.
You're done selecting your songs right... remember only 5 songs at a time... or you'll get an error message asking you to buy the full version.
I recommend buying the full version only if you have over 500 songs on your iPod… or if you're in for the cheap stuff like me... stick with the FREE trial version.
5. Launch iTunes... select 'Preferences' from under the 'Edit' menu.
|
6. Select the 'Advanced' tab in the 'Preferences' window.
7. Check 'Keep iTunes Music folder organized' and 'Copy files to iTunes Music Folder when adding to library'
|
8. Go back to iPod Access, and click 'Add to iTunes' at the top of the menu with your songs still selected...
and... as if by magic... your songs will be transferred into your iTunes music library :o)
