My nano just froze and I followed your directions by holding down the Select and Menu -- it worked! It seems to need to drop some power before it picks up . . . weird. Thanks so much for the information... I did download the new software, and let Windows and iPod do all the updates, etc. Then allowed it to do everything the first time. Did not see your note on the 6-10 seconds reset, but let it do everything normally. ...Works perfect... Would have been nice to have it work when I was on vacation but... I decided to copy all the iPod onto an external drive before I restore. This way I hope I will be able to put it back. I spoke to a mate at work and realised when he connected to his computer that I can access and play the iPod on the computer if I set sync to manual.
